Fishing Instruction and Coaching
Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced angler who wants to improve technique or learn something new, your requirements can be accommodated at Damerham.
We offer an introductory session for the beginner which will typically include the following.
- Safety instructions and clothing.
- Introduction to the outfit and how to assemble it.
- The mechanics of the cast and how the rod works.
- Overhead cast and roll cast.
- Basic knots.
- Casting to, playing and landing a fish.
We provide coaching sessions tailored to the particular needs of experienced anglers who want to improve and refine their casting techniques.
- Overhead and roll casts with differing wind directions.
- Changing direction.
- False casting.
- Shooting line.
- Single and double haul.
The principal coach is Ian Thew who is a member of the Game Angling Instructors Association and holds a level 2 certificate in coaching angling. All other coaches are similarly qualified which means that they have been checked and cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau and have attended a first aid course and a child protection workshop.
Your visit, for either tuition or coaching, whether on a one to one basis or in a group, will be tailored to meet your own needs and we will endeavour to ensure that your experience with us is both enjoyable and rewarding .
